JP - Teacher, Coach, Consultant
JP is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who teaches, coaches and consults clients from all over North America. She started performing in the Canadian music scene in 2008, forming bands and competing in shows for 10 years. A seasoned headliner, she won the 2017 Battle of the Bands Competition of South-Western Ontario with her original songs and mashups - the first female and first "wild card" to win.
Teacher Biography Continued
She received Bachelor of Arts in Music and Business (double Honors) with a minor in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Waterloo. She has several post-graduate certificates in Music and Business from competitive programs, including a certificate in Music Industry from Artscape Daniels Launchpad and Master’s studies in Community Music from Wilfrid Laurier University. She received full-ride offers for each of her degrees and certificates, and an offer to do an MBA from a top-10 program in Canada but declined due to having equivalent experience.
JP has been teaching music to all ages since 2012. She creates customized lessons for each student based on their level, goals and experience. In the first lesson she likes to get to know her students and their interests so she can better teach them.
Her approach is to challenge students to be their best and be themselves. She brings positivity and humor into her studio and encourages students to think creatively. Students may have the opportunity to perform or record songs when they advance with JP.
She helps students work on songs, technique, warmups, rhythm, ear training, performance, demo recording and lyric writing in inspiring ways. She plays and writes music in various styles, and can help you do the same (Pop, Rock, Folk, Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz, Blues, Musical Theatre, Classical, Metal, Afro, Latin). When students look for a new teacher, JP is the one they go to. She looks forward to learning more about you!

JP's Teaching and Coaching Approach
My approach is to challenge students to be their best and be themselves. I bring positivity and humor into my studio while encouraging students to think creatively and find their voice.
My goal with lessons is to help students build their sound and confidence through creative exploration and expression. Apart from forming a solid technical foundation, emphasis is placed on developing musicianship skills; with musicality, students can bring their music to life in their own way and feel ownership of what they create or perform.
I have a holistic, long-term approach to working with my students on their goals. I create custom lessons for each student based on their level, interests and experience. I help students with warmups, performance skills, ear training, demo recording, lyric-writing, song creation, vocal health and more. I look forward to meeting you!
